Fair Daze - Independence County Fair 2008

Filed Under (Events, Sheri's Photos, The Studio) by Clayton on 21-07-2008

The 2008 Independence County fair is over. It is still hot but the “fun” of having the county fair in smoldering. sweaty and almost unbearable mid-July has again passed. IF you are wondering about all the winners at the fair this year visit www.icfair.com. All the winners were listed daily. This was a great aid to people and press.

Just remember Select Shots Photography has a full AIR-CONDITIONED studio. We can help with any photography or design needs you can dream up, or we can dream them up for you. Give us a call or drop by any time.

Max

A lot of people commented on our portrait of Max our 9 year old Golden Retriever. He goes to work at the studio every day. When you stop by he is usually the first one to greet you.

Thursday at the Independence County Fair has come and gone. The winners of the Little Miss and Little Mister were toooo cute as usual. As you can see from the pictures below. You can view all winners and names at the Fairs’ Website HERE.

Members of the Whiskey Falls band sang the National Athem to get things started Thursday night. If I could sing like that someone would be blogging about me.

Tornado Sirens at Newport, Arkansas

Newark Arkansas Power Plant

On our way back Memorial Day from Jonesboro we stopped at Newport to fill up the little green dog truck. All of the sudden the tornado sires began wailing. It got really dark. We decided to cut through Jacksonport and come into Batesville that way. The clouds were really awesome. I stopped and took a couple of pics around the Newark Power Plant. Had to hurry our US Pizza was getting cold.

WHY is there not a place in Batesville that can make a pizza like they do at US Pizza in Newport? And no its not just because they serve beer.

BHS Seniors

The BHS class of 2008 has graduated! Congratulations!

All the parents and volunteers did another fantastic job with the graduation party. From what we could tell all the seniors and their guests had a great time.

We want to thank everytone for inviting Selectshots to take the Red carpet photos. All the photos are posted now and you can view them here.

Several students asked if they could put these photos on Myspace, Facebook, etc. The answer is YES, IF you purchase a downloaded image it is for your personal use. We do ask that you leave the Selectshots.com name on the photo or give appropriate credit on your space.

Thanks again, Good Luck and Enjoy Your Life.

Duke, the one pulling the carriage, has just come for pulling carriages around Central Park in New York City. He now resides in Rose Bud, AR with his new owners. I wish I knew their names, maybe someone could leave a comment and let us know. Anyway, Duke carried two beautiful and handsome couples to the BHS prom last night. More photo and a slideshow can be seen Here.

Southern hospitality exemplified in Cave City

We just finished photographing the basketball tournament hosted by Cave City High School and enjoyed every aspect of it. It is always a pleasure to work with the students, faculty and staff at Cave City. The new campus is state of the art and the hospitality of the whole community is unbelievable. The organizational skills and support operated like clock work. It began with the friendly staff/students in the parking lot, continued with the smiling people at the ‘Pass Gate’ and Lobby entrance, permeated through the helpers in the gym and bubbled into the ‘Hospitality Room’. There were so many happy, helpful volunteers in supply, you would have thought you were in a more populated city. When parking over flowed to the old campus, several shuttle buses made quick trips so attendees wouldn’t have to walk so far. We noticed one of the bus drivers was the smiling head honcho himself, Mr. Steve Green, Superintendent.

We heard wonderful stories about people spending their lunch breaks from their regular jobs to come to the school and volunteer time to help make this event a success. Much of the food (especially the desserts, my favorite part!) was homemade by family and friends of school personnel and let us tell you…it was mmmm, mmmm, good!

Now to the actual tournament…The Cavewomen were awesome. They played their hearts out all week making it to the final game. Unfortunately, they did not win their last game, but they won the hearts of the home crowd.

We are very proud of your accomplishments and the way you represented the spirit and pride of Cave City. We will probably see some of the same athletes real soon on the softball field. We wish you the best.

So, if you haven’t had a chance to visit the brand new Cave City High School campus you are missing out on one of the best things that has happened in our region in a while. Take time to attend a sporting event or school function at Cave City and support our future - the young people.
